En décembre 2024, Vodacom RDC comptait 6,4 millions de clients actifs sur sa plateforme de paiement mobile M-Pesa, selon un document officiel consulté par Bankable. Ce chiffre marque une hausse de 28,4 % par rapport à 2023, où l’opérateur enregistrait 5,88 millions d’utilisateurs.

Cette progression conforte la RDC comme un marché clé pour Vodacom en dehors du Kenya. Les revenus générés par M-Pesa en RDC ont atteint environ 145,8 millions de dollars sur l’année, selon une estimation basée sur un taux de change moyen de 17,8 rands pour un dollar.

Vodacom domine le marché congolais des services financiers mobiles avec 13,1 millions d’abonnés (y compris les comptes inactifs), représentant plus de 53 % de part de marché. En 2024, M-Pesa a généré 85 millions de dollars, surpassant Orange Money, Airtel Money et Afrimoney.

Cependant, la concurrence s’intensifie. Au deuxième trimestre 2024, le chiffre d’affaires de M-Pesa a baissé de 4,19 %, tandis qu’Airtel Money et Orange Money ont respectivement progressé de 6,5 % et 12,3 %.

Avec un taux de pénétration des services financiers mobiles de 25,7 %, le marché congolais offre encore un fort potentiel de croissance.
